Salary: £12,000 - £13,000 per annum starting           salary

 

Hours: 8:30am to 4:30pm (37.5 hrs per week)

Holidays:

9 weeks holiday to include 2 training days plus any bank holidays that fall within term time.

 

 

Core Purpose of the Role: To support the Unit Head in ensuring the efficient and effective running of the department to meet the day to day needs of the pupils

Principle Accountabilities & Dimensions:

 

Training:

  • commitment to undertake appropriate professional development to acquire the necessary knowledge of autism, curriculum, including the National Curriculum and ABA principles and practice; to support the teaching of children and young people with autism.

 

Teaching and Learning:

  • key worker for one child in the department responsible for ensuring department head, specialists consultants’ recommendations, directions and programmes are carried out to ensure a pupil’s curriculum is delivered utilising good ABA principles and practice and also PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)
  • responsible for delivering 1:1 sessions or group sessions with other pupils in class in a variety of settings
  • to provide personal care (e.g. toileting, nappy changing and feeding) for pupils within the school
  • to supervise indoor/outdoor activities for pupils
  • responsible for safeguarding the health and safety of pupils, including maintaining a physically safe environment and completing risk assessments as appropriate

 

Data collection / Assessment / Reviews

  • ensure that pupil progress is collected, summed and graphed. Responsible for regularly communicating data to unit head, and behavioural specialists ensuring compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies and procedures
  • ensuring all paperwork concerning key child is in order, up-to-date and stored appropriately

 

Resources

  • responsible for production, organisation and maintenance of appropriate teaching materials and resources to support access to the curriculum and a pupil’s personalised targets
